This I Believe
The "One Book One Bettendorf" project of the Bettendorf Library has selected the book "This I Believe," a collection of personal essays edited by Jay Allison and Dan Gediman, and encouraged local writers to create their own "This I Believe" essays. In conjunction with this project, WVIK broadcast selected local essays, read by their authors, which are available for online listening.

WVIK offers a complete schedule of symphony concert broadcasts as well. Performance Today airs from 8 PM to 10 PM, Monday through Friday, with concert broadcasts following from 10 PM to midnight.

The Congressional Delegation serving WVIK listeners needs to hear from you.

We have always encouraged our listeners to make their opinion on Federal funding for public broadcasting known to their senators and representatives. Now, almost all of our listeners are represented by new congressmen who may not have as well-defined a grasp on their constituent’s feelings toward funding public radio through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as their predecessors.

From the letters you have sent to us, and the comments of our senators and representatives when we talk with them, we know you have made your opinions known in the past, and we encourage you to do so again. The administration’s budget asks for the same cuts in funding for CPB as it has the past two years, so our new congressmen will need to know how listeners in their districts will want them to proceed.

The easiest way to do this is to use the ZIP code entry in the adjoining “Tell Them Public Matters” graphic. You will find an update on the funding situation, and you’ll be able to either e-mail or compose a letter to both your senators and congressional representative.
